The Institute as part of its advocacy efforts reacted to a job advertisement by the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) which was published in the Daily Trust newspaper on Monday, 22 May 2017 by issuing an official letter to the Board stating the Institute’s stand on discriminatory practices in the workplace and also informed members on the Institute’s stand on discriminatory adverts whilst also promising an update upon receipt of a response from the Board.
CIPM subsequently received an official response from the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) expressing the Board’s appreciation for the professional observation of the Institute in regard to the advert. The discriminatory aspect of the advertisement has also been withdrawn by the Board. The CDFIPB has also pledged to take the Institute’s advice into consideration for subsequent vacancy advertisements.
